Exam Results Application
An examination results SMS application that was launched late last year and used for the first time in January this year by pupils to receive their primary leaving exam results cause quite a discussion on the I-Network list. Highlights of the discussion are available . The key issues arising were the privacy of the information and the cost of accessing information.

Everyone appreciated the innovative discussion although some agreed more is needed to ensure privacy of data of the pupils and the cost could be lower although when compared to costs of travel to a school to collect the results, or buying a local newspaper, this is cheaper.

One angle that was not discussed is the role of institutions like NITA in ensuring technology innovations like this can be used to enhance service delivery. Does NITA have a role to play or should we leave it to the private sector in partnership with government agencies to decide who needs these innovative applications?
