Over the past months especially during the last quarter of 2009, the Ministry of ICT has come under a lot of spotlight over the various projects they have handled e.g. CHOGM 2007 and the national backbone infrastructure. Today, the ICT sessional committee has stopped the further implementation of the project until the auditor general’s report on phase one of NBI/EGI is out later this week.

A lot of the challenges and issues arising from phase I are in the area of quality of work done. Does this mean the ICT sector needs to come together to advocate for definitions / regulation / oversight and other quality aspects that shall improve the methods of work in the industry and provide benchmarks?
